WRAPPING UP THE SUMMER
Dear friends,
Thank you for all your prayers and support of our family and ministry this last summer. It has been one of our most fruitful and busy summers ever. God is so good. He has expanded our work here in Panama and opened up so many more opportunities for ministry among the Ngöbe, Kuna, and Emberá.
Our trip to Kuna Yala was very successful. Together with the School of Worship, we ran a song-writing workshop, some teaching on worship, and recorded a number of songs. If you are interested in having the recordings, just write me a quick note. I also got to make a connection with a leader of the Batptist Kuna church as a whole. He is a musician and was right on-board with everything we were about.
While there, we also got to learn a lot more about the Kuna culture and religion. It astounded me to see how much Animism, New Age, and even Free Masonry was mixed in with their traditions. This knowledge will help us with future ministry among the Kuna. Check out some pictures of our trip here: Kuna Yala trip
ETHNE '09
Some of you may remember in our paper newsletter that we sent out, when we mentioned a certain group that we were involved in. It is an international network called Ethne-to-ethne. John was invited last October to form a team of 3 other EthnoArts specialists that will present at the organization's conference that happens every 3 years. This is the only conference in the world that is focused solely on Unreached People Groups.
John will help present how the use of indigenous arts is a key method to evangelizing these unreached people groups. The conference is to take place on November 1-4 in Bogotá, Colombia, right next door to Panama. After a full summer, this trip is above and beyond our normal finances. We felt that we should make this need known and want to ask you to pray about giving towards this trip. We need to raise $600 for a plane ticket, food, and housing.
Natalie and Asher continue to grow and we are blessed exponentially every new day. Kristina is doing an amazing job with them both, even on 4-6 hours of sleep every night (between nighttime feedings and nighttime potty runs)
We pray many blessings on all of you this September.
Your friends,
John and Kristina
